Pore storage facilities are constructed exclusively for the storage of gaseous media. They are particularly well-suited for storing large quantities of gas needed to offset seasonal demand fluctuations.
In aquifer structures (i.e. structures with porous, water-bearing horizons) the layered water is displaced from the pore spaces by the injected gas, thereby creating an artificial gas storage deposits.
