Expert forum on hydrogen infrastructure 29-30.10.2024
On October 29 and 30, 2024, Karsta Parsiegla, Anna Schweitzer and Torsten Slotosch from the Georesources and Surface Technology departments took part in the DBI Hydrogen Infrastructure Expert Forum in Leipzig. The program of the expert forum included a lecture event, a panel discussion and an excursion to the Bad Lauchstädt energy park.
The contributions to the expert forum were divided into four thematic areas:
1. Regulatory framework and current prospects for hydrogen
2. Supra-regional & regional hydrogen strategies & projects
3. Results from ongoing & completed hydrogen projects
4. H2 quality & storage

Mr. Michael Seifert (GF TEP Thüringer Energie Speichergesellschaft mbH), in cooperation with UGS GmbH, presented the extensive work carried out so far and the positive results of the first sub-project: “Transformation of the UGS Kirchheilingen from natural gas to hydrogen storage” under the title “Storage conversion Kirchheilingen to H2”.
During the lecture and evening event, there was a lively exchange of information among the participants, who came from companies, institutions and research facilities. Contacts with potential partners and clients for hydrogen projects were established and intensified.
The excursion to the Bad Lauchstädt energy park took the participants to the construction site for the electrolyzer and processing plant and to the visitor center, where the path to the energy transition with hydrogen at the Bad Lauchstädt site was presented.
Activities on the construction site and among those involved in the project are running at full speed so that green hydrogen can be produced with the electrolyzer from mid-2025.
