Borehole integrity
Borehole integrity is verified by two interlinked investigations:
- Leakage tests
- Borehole integrity investigation and evaluation
As drilling infrastructure ages, we need to determine whether, for how long, and under what conditions these wells can remain safe. This issue is addressed through leak tests and well integrity assessments.
Leak testing and integrity assessments use geophysical, laboratory, technical, and mathematical methods to evaluate well safety and prevent uncontrolled media leaks into geological formations or onto the surface. The integrity assessment provides information on the safe continued operation of a well, on possible restrictions in the operational management, on necessary repair or remediation work, or – in the worst case – on the discarding of the well.
The leak tests and integrity assessment cover a broad spectrum of
- investigation procedure
- evaluation categories
- basic data
- evaluation methods
- results and recommendations
